Re-Sounding History at Fort Gorges

Friends of Fort Gorges is proud to partner with Hogfish and Wild Seed Project.

Hogfish is a regenerative arts production company and artist residency at the historic Beckett Castle, surrounded by an internationally recognized rose garden on the coast of Maine. We are building an artistic sanctuary and body of work dedicated to restoring creative and physical health to individuals, our communities, and our earth.

The mission of Wild Seed Project is to inspire people to take action and join us in increasing the presence of native plants grown from wild seed. Our vision is that people create and repopulate landscapes to be abundant with native plants that safeguard wildlife habitat, support biodiversity, and mitigate the effects of climate change.

Enjoy a boat ride across Aucocisco, present day Casco Bay, and quickly arrive at Fort Gorges.

Stroll into the courtyard, put down a yoga mat or picnic blanket or sit in the grass, and invite yourself to listen to the ocean waves and call of the birds, while hands-on-healers offer their assistance to leave your cares behind and enter the presence of the sensory world. The musical offerings will begin with Hogfish artist-in-residence and Wabanaki singer and dancer Isaac Syliboy who will be joined by Hogfish artist-in-residence and composer/bassist Evan Premo for 40 minutes of instrumental loop-based improvisation for meditation and deep listening, where Evan weaves in music produced live from the electrical impulses of native plants selected by the Wild Seed Project.

At the end of the meditation, spend time exploring the island on your own or on a guided tour, go for a swim, or continue to listen to the reverberations in the space and in your soul.

Tickets include transportation, performance, hands-on healing, non-alcoholic beverages.

We encourage you to bring a blanket or chair and picnic.
