Friends of Fort Gorges welcomes A Company of Girls to Fort Gorges.
ACOG (A Company of Girls) is a Portland-based nonprofit that makes a difference in a girl’s life by using the arts as a tool to empower, support and encourage her to succeed.
The Olmsted scavenger hunt will be facilitated by A Company of Girls with a theme relative to the national celebration of Frederick Law Olmsted’s 200th birthday. Nearly two centuries ago, Olmsted tackled social and environmental challenges analogous to those we face today: racism, disease, pollution, inequality, and deep social divisions. These were profound concerns in the late 19th century just as they are profound concerns in our time.
Olmsted understood the powerful interface between thoughtful design and social justice and his prescriptions – democratic spaces, community, healthful connections to nature & sustainable landscapes – are vital to address racism, inequality and climate change today. ACOG will be working with this theme to bring to life this child-focused scavenger hunt.
NOTE: this event will be free thanks to the generosity of the Onion Foundation and Coffee By Design.
Tickets include transportation, snacks, non-alcoholic beverages, and fun for all.
